3.28. Notification Setup

Use this guide when you need to:

1. Upgrade branch notification config (one time).
2. Turn event triggers on/off for each notification module.

Go to: Home > Settings > General > Notification

A) Understand what you are seeing on this page

Top summary cards:

1. Enabled Now: total active events in this branch.
2. Coming Soon: events shown but not available yet.
3. Always On: locked events that stay enabled automatically.

Module cards (example: Homework Notifications):

1. Each card groups related events.
2. Each row is one event trigger with a switch.
3. Card badge shows status like Active or Coming soon.
4. You must click Save to apply changes.

B) One-time upgrade (if warning is shown)

If you see this warning:
Notification requires a quick database upgrade before you can use it.

Steps:

1. Click Upgrade now.
2. Wait for the page to reload.
3. Re-open Home > Settings > General > Notification if needed.
4. Confirm the warning is gone and module cards are visible.

Expected result:

1. Notification cards appear.
2. You can now configure event triggers and save them.

C) Adjust event triggers (enable or disable)

Steps:

1. Open Settings > General > Notification.
2. Find the module you want to adjust (Homework, Payment/Invoice, and others).
3. Turn ON the switches for events you want to send.
4. Turn OFF events you do not want to send.
5. Click Save.
6. Wait for success message.

Important:

1. Coming soon items cannot be enabled yet.
2. Always On items are locked and cannot be disabled.
3. Unsaved changes will not be applied until you click Save.

D) Suggested starter setup

For safer rollout, start with only core events:

1. Homework: New homework posted.
2. Payment/Invoice: Payment reminder and/or Payment confirmation.
3. Keep extra events OFF until your team confirms parents are not over-notified.

Then click Save and monitor feedback for 1-2 days before enabling more events.

E) How to verify after save

Steps:

1. Check the Enabled Now count changed as expected.
2. Confirm module text like x of y events enabled matches your selection.
3. Trigger one real flow (example: post homework) and confirm parent/student receives notification.
4. If no notification arrives, check student token status in Students > Edit > More > Send Test Notify.

F) Troubleshooting

If Upgrade now does not remove warning:

1. Refresh browser once.
2. Logout/login and check page again.
3. Ask technical support to verify branch database upgrade completed.

If switch cannot be changed:

1. It is likely Coming soon or Always On.
2. This is expected behavior, not an error.

If notification still not received after save:

1. Confirm event is ON and saved.
2. Confirm student device token exists using Send Test Notify.
3. Re-test with one sample event.

G) Send Test Notify for one student

Use this to confirm whether one student account can receive push notification now.

Go to: Home > Students > Edit Student > More > Send Test Notify

Steps:

1. Open the student profile.
2. Click More.
3. Click Send Test Notify.
4. In the popup, check platform status for Android / iOS and Huawei.
5. Confirm each platform shows either Token Set or Not Set.
6. Click Send Test Notify under the platform you want to test.
7. Check result at the bottom (Sent or Error).

How to read result:

1. Sent means server accepted test push for that platform token.
2. Not Set means app token has not been saved yet for that platform.
3. If Not Set, ask user to log in to app again on the target device, then test again.

H) Check report for who has notify enabled

Use this report to quickly check which students can receive app notifications.

Go to: Home > Reports > Data Check > Students

What to check:

1. Android/iOS Notify column:

Yes means the student can receive notifications on Android/iPhone.
No means notification is not ready yet on Android/iPhone.

2. Huawei Notify column:

Yes means the student can receive notifications on Huawei devices.
No means notification is not ready yet on Huawei.

Tips:

1. Click a student name to open the student profile quickly.
2. Use Send Test Notify in the profile to send a quick test notification.
3. If your branch has Export to Excel, export the list for easy follow-up.
